Adopt Mira

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 5 years

quiet, loving, modest, cautious, compatible, fearful of strangers Mira comes from "Miracle" and yes, it is a small miracle that Mira could be caught together with her only pup, who survived. Mira was extremely thin and emaciated. The weather at the beginning of February was still cold and windy. She must have used all her strength to bring her pups through the cold season. In the end, only her puppy Momo survived. Unfortunately, because Mira was such a loving, caring mother to Momo. She surely did everything for her pups. It took days until Mira could be caught. Now at the animal shelter, she is working continuously with her caregivers in small steps to reduce her fear of people. From her caregivers, she allows herself to be touched and also comes towards them. A walking on a leash is unfortunately not yet possible. Mira would greatly benefit from being adopted by someone with a confident only dog. So far, she has shown herself to be unobtrusive and well-mannered with other dogs. Due to her insecurity, she tends to react to people with "freeze" or "flight" rather than "fight". She has never shown a tendency towards "fight" because of her fear. We cannot say when this beautiful and calm female dog will show her soul for the first time, but when that happens, she will be amazing and wonderful. This will be a piece of work with a lot of patience, patience, patience. But it will be worth it! Mira will reveal her enchanting nature. All she needs is the trust of the right person. They are all vaccinated, microchipped and have an EU passport. They will be checked for Mediterranean diseases according to their age. See information on our homepage. Every dog that is placed makes room for one of those dogs who live their lives hungry and emaciated.

AUFENTHALTSORT

About Mira

What life with Mira looks like

Mira is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. in Greece.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇷Adopting from Greece

Greek shelters often partner with Northern European rescue groups for placements. Animals are sterilized, vaccinated, and chipped before adoption. Fees vary widely depending on whether the shelter is municipal or NGO-run.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mira, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mira?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mira on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mira if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mira already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mira isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mira and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
