adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Mirica has found her home! Her story: Baia Mare, Romania. Young female German Shepherd looking for her family! Unlike most of our dogs, the beautiful Mirica comes with a brief backstory, as her owner dropped her off at the public shelter in Baia Mare. The young female dog was hit by a car and sustained injuries to her left shoulder and left leg. She was introduced to our vet, who found that she did not have any fractures and can be treated well. Mirica is just under 1.5 years old and approximately 60 cm tall. She has typical shepherd-type medium-length fur, a dark snout, cute upright ears, a black back, and is otherwise beige. With her brown button eyes, she looks hopeful into our camera. She is friendly and open with people and gets along well with her fellow animals. For Mirica, we wish for loving and patient adopters who want to help her start a new life. Ideally, they have already familiarized themselves with the characteristics of a shepherd dog. Since Mirica likely lived outside, as most Romanian dogs are kept in enclosures, she is not familiar with the rules of a good house dog, like indoor cleanliness. However, the young female dog is intelligent and wants to please her people, so we assume she will quickly learn the 1×1 of house dogs. To support this, we recommend attending a positively working dog training class. Joint training will appropriately challenge Mirica and strengthen her bond to her people. Mirica will travel after a positive assessment. She will then be vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, neutered, and treated for fleas. Additionally, she will receive her EU pet passport. Would you like to take Mirica by the paw and show her the sunny side of life? Then contact us! A foster home would also be very helpful for her. Many thanks, dear Birgit Z., you gave Mirica her name and thus her identity!. This animal was surrendered to the shelter.

About Mirica

What life with Mirica looks like

Mirica is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mirica, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mirica?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mirica on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mirica if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mirica already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mirica isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mirica and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
