Mirjam

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 4 months

Mirjam, a lovely Hungarian mixed breed, was found roaming the streets of Pilis on August 28, 2026, in search of food. She was reported to the animal shelter by concerned citizens and fortunately arrived there unharmed. During the microchip check, no match was found, and she was not reported missing. It is assumed she was abandoned. Her quarantine period has ended, and Mirjam is waiting for loving people to share her life journey and rely on her for life. Mirjam has unfortunately experienced the darker side of life, but seems to have coped well. Initially, she is shy, but once she opens up, she is a playful, cheerful, and affectionate puppy. New situations can sometimes overwhelm her. She needs a lot of closeness and love and enjoys petting and attention. Although still green behind the ears, she needs to be taught everything a young dog needs to know for a happy family life with patience and love. She has the best prerequisites to become a great companion who will stand by her humans through thick and thin. However, her new owners should be aware of the responsibility and work involved in bringing a puppy into the family. Mirjam gets along well with her peers and loves to play and romp with them, but not too wildly. We are looking for loving and enthusiastic dog lovers to welcome her into their families forever. She should be allowed to arrive in peace and without expectations. In due course, she needs appropriate activity, wants to be challenged and promoted age-appropriately, and go on discovery trips with her humans. In addition, many cuddle hours, sufficient rest phases, a lot of play and fun, dog school, great walks, and Mirjam can leave the past behind and start a happy future. Who shows Mirjam the bright side of life? She is still too young for neutering, which must be done by the new owners when she is old enough. The estimated final size is 45-55cm and weight 16-24kg. On September 11, 2026, Mirjam is 35cm and 6.8kg. Mirjam can travel from around late October/early November 2026 if she has found a home or foster home.

About Mirjam

What life with Mirjam looks like

Mirjam is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Happyend in Animal Happyend.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mirjam, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mirjam?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Happyend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mirjam on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mirjam if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Happyend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mirjam already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mirjam isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Happyend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mirjam and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
