Mischling Loulou &#8211

Mixed Breed · Female

Loulou is an adopted dog from a neighboring shelter. Originally from abroad, she was taken in by the actual shelter, which found it challenging to manage her. Loulou still has a long way to go. She enjoys her playtime with her canine buddy. She is also vigilant, though not a barker. She finds people interesting but needs to maintain a certain distance. If she feels threatened, one might think a rattlesnake has been involved. She calms down quickly, though. Since she also has a fondness for treats, there is still room for improvement in building trust, but she is now adoptable and seeks a home with experience in caring for anxious dogs. She now walks well on a leash without the constant need to chew it up. For accommodation, food, and upcoming vet visits, we hope for additional sponsors. Currently, she requires regular physiotherapy because her kneecap is not stable. Although the treatment is challenging, we strive to find alternative solutions. In her new home, she would thrive with fellow animals, and children should be of school age. Experience in handling such dogs is assumed, as well as the necessary knowledge for securing her surroundings. Loulou requires owners who, for now, do not expect love and attention but focus on fairness and trust in everyday life. A well-secured house is also important, as Loulou needs to learn the new routine without excursions outside the new home. What then develops in terms of affection lies in the hands of the new home and Loulou’s development opportunities, which are provided. Following the slogan "nothing is impossible," we also wish for Loulou a home where she can be individually further supported, so that the time spent here laying the groundwork is only the start of more time with her own family.

DE·Show original

About Mischling Loulou &#8211

What life with Mischling Loulou &#8211 looks like

Mischling Loulou &#8211 is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Schkortitz in Grimma.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mischling Loulou &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mischling Loulou &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Schkortitz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mischling Loulou &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mischling Loulou &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Schkortitz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mischling Loulou &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mischling Loulou &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Schkortitz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mischling Loulou &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
