Mischling, Rüde, unkastriert, geb. ca. 2017

Labrador Retriever · Male · Senior · 9 years

BAMBAM came to us from a difficult situation. Two ladies learned about his not-so-nice husbandry and convinced the owners to transfer him. However, a very agitated, aggressive, and overwhelmed dog was then in the car, ready for anything. So, in the evening, the two stood in front of the animal shelter and asked for our help. At first, he wasn't very cooperative here. One can see his past, as he has a panic reaction when a stick is taken out. After he was put in a muzzle and realized that his attacks don't impress us but he also has nothing to fear from us, it went very quickly, and he began to look forward to seeing his trusted people every day. Now, he is extremely cuddly, enjoys walks, and his trust in people is growing steadily. With strangers, it usually also goes relatively quickly once he becomes approachable. Walks are relaxed and fun with him. A big problem is his food aggression, which we are already working on. Nevertheless, it would be safest to feed him in a separate room at the beginning. Unfortunately, we don't know what happened in his past or why he reacts so extremely. BAMBAM is fundamentally a friendly dog. However, there are certain triggers that can lead to aggressive behavior. He usually acts out of self-protection. He needs to slowly learn that this is no longer necessary. He needs people with patience and understanding who don't take it personally if, at first, there are one or two situations where they are growled at. One must not then become unsure but instead convey with calmness and clarity that everything is fine. He is accustomed to wearing a muzzle, and potential owners shouldn't have a problem with that. If you would like to meet BAMBAM, please contact us. We will accompany you through the matching process and stand by you afterward.

How do I contact the shelter about Mischling, Rüde, unkastriert, geb. ca. 2017?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Bayreuth handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mischling, Rüde, unkastriert, geb. ca. 2017 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mischling, Rüde, unkastriert, geb. ca. 2017 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Bayreuth will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Is Mischling, Rüde, unkastriert, geb. ca. 2017 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. What happens if Mischling, Rüde, unkastriert, geb. ca. 2017 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Bayreuth early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mischling, Rüde, unkastriert, geb. ca. 2017 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
