Mia

Labrador Retriever · Female

Breed: Labrador Retriever-mixed-breed female dog Age: born around 02/2017 Halli Hallo Hallöchen… I am Mia… a true Labrador Retriever mix lady… This means: I am loving, cheerful, cuddly, sometimes a bit stormy, and also a bit of a glutton… and yes, they say I have the talent of an “elephant in a porcelain shop”… But I really mean well! I am healthy and still quite active for my age… okay, I might need to lose a few pounds – because right now I am a bit well-padded… Going for walks and playing with you would definitely help me get my bikini figure back… I was a company dog – so kind of a dog for everyone and yet for no one… I still don’t know the big, wide world out there very well… Staircases still give me a bit of a scare at the moment, and much is new to me… But I am curious – and with loving guidance, I will surely quickly understand that life out there is exciting and that, with you by my side, I have nothing to fear… I have learned a few things in my life… for example, I ride in the car very politely, I am friendly to children, and I can already walk on a leash – only… well… I sometimes think they are a fun toy… I find that funny… You, perhaps not always… We can still work on that a bit… I also get along well with other dogs, if I can get to know them in peace, because until now I have always been alone… I am very people-oriented and had the great fortune to be known by a former employee since childhood, who still takes care of me for several hours every day… The departure is always hard for him, but he cannot keep me… I lived on a company premises that has now been closed. There, I could move freely, greeted everyone kindly, and was always in the middle of things… now I am completely alone… I am looking for active people with humor, heart, and perhaps a stable living room table… people who take pleasure in growing together with me… people who know: A Labrador loves with the whole body – and sometimes with full force… I wish for people who will raise me with love or who will simply take me as I am – warmly, lively, and sometimes a little clumsy… I need clear, friendly guidance and a lot of closeness… I am a break clown and soul comforter in one… but I also need a shoulder to lean on… I am not looking for a perfect home… I am looking for my home… Maybe with you? Before I move into my new home, I will be neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. If you would like to adopt me, please contact my fosterer.

About Mia

What life with Mia looks like

Mia is a small adult labrador retriever dog waiting at Traurige Hundeherzen e.V. in Hamburg.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Traurige Hundeherzen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Traurige Hundeherzen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Traurige Hundeherzen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
