Adopt Misiu

Male · Senior · 14 years

Misiu is a dog with a big heart and a difficult past. Looking for a caregiver who will understand his fears and limitations, in return he will give enormous love and devotion. Misiu suffers from separation anxiety - he is very afraid of being left alone, both at home and in a car. Stress in such situations can lead to destruction of the environment: doors, walls, cables, and even pipes. Additionally, he has a sound phobia - thunderstorms, gunshots, fireworks or other loud sounds cause panic in him, during which he may behave unpredictably, even bite. Recent tests showed that he has hypothyroidism - in the near future he will have to take medication twice a day. Despite his difficult experiences, Misiu is a dog who loves people - he would rather not get off the lap of his caregiver. He is a faithful friend who can form a beautiful bond. He is picky, but not aggressive towards cats - he tolerates them, but does not adore them. He likes female dogs, but does not get along with other dogs, especially males. He also does not tolerate small children - he can be jealous and possessive towards his beloved person.

Read original (pl)

Misiu to pies o wielkim sercu i trudnej przeszłości.

About Misiu

What life with Misiu looks like

Misiu is a senior dog waiting at Fundacja Dla Zwierząt Animalia Poznań in Poznań.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Misiu, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Misiu?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Dla Zwierząt Animalia Poznań handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Misiu on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Misiu if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Dla Zwierząt Animalia Poznań will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Misiu already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Misiu isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Dla Zwierząt Animalia Poznań early rather than rehoming privately; they know Misiu and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
