Miss Piggy

European Shorthair · Female · Adult · 8 years

My name is Miss Piggy. I am female, neutered, and born around 2017. I have been waiting since January 2018 for a new home. My caretakers say about me: Miss Piggy was seized by the authorities. In a household, over 30 cats lived, which had to be distributed among several animal shelters because our small animal shelter did not have enough space all at once. All were treated against common parasites, and the fur was visibly marked by malnutrition, which would regenerate with proper food over time. She shows herself more quiet in the adoption room and stays in the background. However, she always stays close to people and is not yet fully brave enough to accept cuddles. She would like to, and with the help of treats, it does go. She needs a bit of patience, but with that, she will surely become a cuddly magic mouse. Miss Piggy can be rehomed to a compatible fellow animal, provided there are children in the household who are understanding with her, then that is no problem. Due to her past, it would be nice if she could be rehomed as a second cat, as she enjoys the company of fellow animals. She does not necessarily need free roam, and pure apartment living is conceivable for Miss Piggy. She loves the proximity to humans without being pushy so far. There, she could carry her curly tail around… We are convinced that in the new home, she will gain trust with a bit of practice and training, as well as the corresponding treats, once she has settled in. For the settling-in, a bit of patience should be brought, then the delicate curly-tailed one will surely quickly become a cuddle mouse… Who gives the shy and initially reserved cat girl a chance and gives her her own home?

About Miss Piggy

What life with Miss Piggy looks like

Miss Piggy is a small adult european shorthair cat waiting at Tierheim Schkortitz in Grimma.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Miss Piggy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Miss Piggy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Schkortitz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Miss Piggy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Miss Piggy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Schkortitz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Miss Piggy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Miss Piggy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Schkortitz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Miss Piggy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
