Missi

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 6 years

Missi | born ca. 2020 | mixed breed | female, neutered | Missi came to us as a found dog on January 2, 2022, at our animal shelter with matching harness and an unusually large amount of information from the finders. We estimate her birth year to be 2020. She has since been neutered and remains healthily unremarkable. During the day, Missi can be with other dogs, where she runs and plays. She occasionally barks at small dogs and female dogs at the fence, but she is usually friendlier in direct contact. The affinity with an already present dog can be tested here. During basic training and on a leash, she shows cooperative and very motivated behavior, wanting to please and being easily guided. She is pleasant on the go and more reserved in a new environment. Her walking companions are popular, and they enjoy long walks with her. When left alone outside, Missi watches the house and grounds. If she is out with you, she can be easily distracted. Strangers become friends with a little food and the presence of a primary caregiver. In the house, it is noticeable that Missi is restless, having already spent so long in the animal shelter. In a new home, it will certainly take some time for her to adjust to the daily routine, but we are optimistic that she will adapt. At the vet, she behaves impeccably and is praised by the staff. Due to her character, we see Missi more suited to a rural area. If you are often on the go and do not want her to watch the property, we could also introduce her to a home. Since she can also be independent, we think that after a period of adjustment, she should be able to handle being alone. Outdoor living would not be a problem. Interested in Missi? Interesse an Missi? About Missi

What life with Missi looks like

Missi is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Rastatt in Rastatt.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Missi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Missi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Rastatt handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Missi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Missi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Rastatt will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Missi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Missi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Rastatt early rather than rehoming privately; they know Missi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
