Mitch

Poodle · Male · Adult · 5 years

Mitch is a curious and affectionate boy who will make a wonderful addition to a suitably high energy home. He's generally happy with being handled, although can get a little wriggly and excitable! He has been known to get vocal when he wants to greet other dogs, but overall walks well in the lead and is very happy travelling in the car. Mitch loves his treats and enjoys having them involved in his enrichment games, and he has a real soft spot for his toys. If you've been searching for a wonderfully boisterous pup to join you on your adventures, Mitch might just be the boy for you! Mitch is a friendly 5 year old Poodle X looking for an active home with lots of mental stimulation! He's a bouncy boy with lots of energy, so we'd recommend any children in the home be secondary school aged or higher, and he'll need to be the only pet in the home. Mitch knows his basic training, but he'd appreciate patient adopters who are willing to put in time to help him with his impulse control and interactions with other dogs as can get excitable. Due to his energy levels, Mitch will need a secure private garden where he can let off some steam, and we suggest an area of the home where he can go when there are visitors entering the house. We don't have much history on Mitch being left alone, so any time will need to be built up gradually to help him adjust.

About Mitch

What life with Mitch looks like

Mitch is a adult poodle dog waiting at Dogs Trust Salisbury in Newton Tony.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mitch, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mitch?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Salisbury handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mitch on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mitch if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Salisbury will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mitch already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mitch isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Salisbury early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mitch and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
