mittens

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

Mittens is an independent, intelligent and wonderfully curious girl with plenty of personality. She loves exploring her surroundings and doing things on her own terms, and she’s not shy about letting you know exactly what she wants! She’s a big fan of cardboard boxes, cosy naps and, most importantly, food. Mittens is very food-motivated and is also quite the chatterbox. She’ll happily let you know when she thinks it’s time for dinner, and she’s not afraid to remind you if you’re running late! Mittens enjoys affection but is also very good at communicating her boundaries. When she’s had enough fuss, she’ll let you know with a little swat or warning nip. For this reason, she’d probably be best suited to a home without very young children who may not yet recognise when she’s asking for some space. She’s a clever, curious and characterful girl who would thrive with someone who appreciates a cat with a big personality!

About mittens

What life with mittens looks like

mittens is a small young adult mixed breed cat waiting at London Inner City Kitties in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting mittens, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about mittens?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. London Inner City Kitties handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw mittens on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt mittens if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — London Inner City Kitties will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is mittens already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if mittens isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with London Inner City Kitties early rather than rehoming privately; they know mittens and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
