Modra

Female · Young · 1 year

Modra is a fun-loving young English Bull Terrier cross who is full of energy. She is based at Battersea Old Windsor. As a strong and bouncy girl, Modra is looking for owners who are confident handling a dog on lead that can pull and who are committed to continuing her training. Modra can sometimes forget her manners when she's excited and she has a tendency to jump up. Modra loves to play and run around with her toys. She has spent some time in our offices and loves to chase after them, she has also settled at times with a dog safe chew. Modra will need to be the only dog in her new home. While she has been social with some dogs, she can be intolerant of them at times particularly if they are overly animated or excitable around her. Because of this, she will be happiest walking in quieter areas where she is less likely to feel overwhelmed by other dogs and can enjoy her walks more comfortably. She is looking for a home with her own private and secure garden. Having her own outdoor space will allow her to burn off some of her energy, enjoy playtime, and relax in a safe environment away from other dogs. Modra has a lot of character and will make a fun companion for a family looking for an active dog. About Modra

What life with Modra looks like

Modra is a medium-sized young adult dog waiting at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Modra, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Modra?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Battersea Dogs & Cats Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Modra on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Modra if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Battersea Dogs & Cats Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Modra already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Modra isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Modra and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
