Mollie

Presa Canario · Female · Adult · 5 years

Mollie is a bright, energetic girl with a lovely nature and so much love to give. After spending a long time in kennels, she is looking for a patient and understanding home where she can settle back into family life at her own pace. She is a very responsive learner and already knows her basic commands, including sit, lie down and wait. Mollie loves enrichment activities and especially enjoys playing with tennis balls. She is eager to learn and continues to make great progress with her training.Mollie recently enjoyed a 4-mile Doggy Day Out through woodland, fields, rivers and country lanes, where she showed just how well she can cope in the outside world. She remained calm and responsive around strangers, passing dogs, traffic and other distractions, regularly checking in with her handler and happily accepting treats. She was described as affectionate, playful, curious and incredibly resilient.Mollie will need gentle guidance when it comes to being left alone, as she can show signs of separation anxiety. With the right support, routine and enrichment, she can continue to build confidence in a home environment.Mollie would prefer to be the only dog in the home, where she can enjoy all the attention for herself. While out and about, she generally feels more comfortable around male dogs than female dogs and would benefit from continued positive experiences and support with her dog social skills. She could live with dog-savvy teenagers who understand her size and enthusiasm, as she can be bouncy when excited. A secure garden with 6-foot fencing is essential for her to safely enjoy playtime and burn off energy.Mollie would thrive with an active family willing to invest time, patience and positive training. In return, she will reward you with loyalty, affection and plenty of fun adventures. If you think Mollie could be the right fit for your home, we'd love to hear from you.

About Mollie

What life with Mollie looks like

Mollie is a adult presa canario dog waiting at RSPCA Cornwall Branch in Saint Columb.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mollie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mollie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Cornwall Branch handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mollie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mollie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — RSPCA Cornwall Branch will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mollie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mollie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Cornwall Branch early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mollie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (the shelter's own language). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
