Mommi

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Senior · 18 years

Mommi is one of the most special residents at our abandoned cat shelter, an elderly feline with a gentle and quiet demeanor who has faced many challenges over the years. Mommi carries several chronic conditions that require constant monitoring, daily attention, and dedicated veterinary care. For this reason, she lives stably in our shelter's infirmary, where we can ensure she has a safe, quiet, and environment suited to her needs, away from the dynamics of the cat shelter, which are now too demanding for her. Her advanced age and health conditions do not allow her to face traditional adoption: it would be too stressful for her to change environments or adapt to a new routine. But Mommi deserves to be loved, supported, and accompanied in her golden years with dignity and tenderness. For this reason, we are seeking a distant adoption for her, a simple but valuable gesture that helps cover the costs of her care, medications, veterinary visits, and special food. Adopting Mommi at a distance means becoming part of her life, receiving updates, photos, and knowing that, thanks to your contribution, this elderly cat can continue to live serenely, warm, and surrounded by attention. If you would like to meet her in person, we look forward to seeing you at our cat shelter, where you will find Mommi and many other cats saved from difficult situations. We are open every day until 12, including Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. Come to discover our work, learn the stories of our residents, and, if you can, support a fragile cat like Mommi through distant adoption: for her, it truly means everything. About Mommi

What life with Mommi looks like

Mommi is a small senior mixed breed cat waiting at Lo Scudo di Pan - Rifugio per Animali in Italy.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mommi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mommi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Lo Scudo di Pan - Rifugio per Animali handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mommi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mommi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Lo Scudo di Pan - Rifugio per Animali will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mommi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mommi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Lo Scudo di Pan - Rifugio per Animali early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mommi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
