Moni in Portugal

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Gender: female/neutered Age: born 04.02.2025 Location: Shelter/Portugal compatibility with others: male dogs & females – no cats Moni is a gentle and affectionate female dog. She lived with her friend Yuka with a hunter. The hunter passed away, and as a result, the two female dogs came to the shelter. We got to personally know Moni in Portugal. Moni is still quite shy. We assume that Moni hasn't had much experience in her life and therefore still needs a lot of security and trust to be placed in a new home. We wish for Moni a home with patient and loving people who will meet Moni with understanding and empathy. It should be noted that every shelter dog, especially considering its past, brings its own story. Therefore, we can never predict how the dog will actually develop and react to living together in Germany with you. Moni can travel to a foster or permanent placement.

Geschlecht: weiblich/kastriert Alter: geb.

About Moni in Portugal

What life with Moni in Portugal looks like

Moni in Portugal is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Pro Dog International e.V. in Talkau.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Moni in Portugal, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Moni in Portugal?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pro Dog International e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Moni in Portugal on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Moni in Portugal if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Pro Dog International e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Moni in Portugal already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Moni in Portugal isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pro Dog International e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Moni in Portugal and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
