Adoption requirements Adoption process Request this animal now! Adoption requirements Adoption process Request this dog now! Montie's story begins at a place no living being should ever end up: in the trash. The male dog was found by the owner of our shelter - thin, completely exhausted and in a miserable condition. His fur was dirty and unkempt, and it quickly became apparent that he is blind in one eye. Unfortunately, we do not know how this happened. However, the injury must have occurred a long time ago, as everything had already healed and there were no open wounds to see. Fortunately, Montie had great luck on that day, because he was not overlooked. He was taken to the shelter in Busag, where he is now cared for, gets regular food and is finally safe. But no matter how much they care for him there - a home of his own can never replace the shelter. Montie is about 3 years old and has a medium size with a shoulder height of about 50 cm. Particularly noticeable is his beautiful, longer fur, which shines in white, black and brown tones. Together with his cute floppy ears, this makes him a real eye-catcher. Despite his blindness in one eye, Montie gets along very well in everyday life and shows no limitations. Montie gets along well with other dogs and is social and friendly in the shelter. His initial shyness towards strangers has already passed and now he enjoys every petting and moment of attention. He also shows himself to be friendly and affectionate towards children. Unfortunately, we know nothing about Montie's past. We can only imagine what he has experienced before he was found in the trash. Therefore, we wish for him people with heart, patience and understanding who will show him how beautiful a dog's life can be. Naturally, Montie still needs to learn the basics of being a dog in a new home. Housebreaking, walking on a leash, everyday noises or car rides are things that are new for many dogs from the animal shelter at first. With loving guidance, patience and perhaps a visit to a positive dog training class, Montie will surely make rapid progress. For Montie we are looking for a loving home with people who give him time to settle in, gain his trust and show him that his life is finally taking a happy turn. A warm dog bed, loving hands and shared adventures - this special dog needs nothing more to be happy. Montie travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed and treated for fleas to his new home. He brings his EU pet passport with him after a positive Montie . Who will give Montie the chance for a new life? Also, a loving foster home that eases his start into his future would be a wonderful option for him. Thank you very much, Tatjana F.! You gave Montie his name! Status: 04.04.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Vielen Dank Tatjana F.! Du hast Montie seinen Namen geschenkt! About Montie

What life with Montie looks like

Montie is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Montie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Montie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Montie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Montie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Montie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Montie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Montie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
