Monty

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy

Monty - a quiet companion with much feeling. Monty is part of the Rasselbande, a group of six puppies who long to leave the puppy pen as quickly as possible. The animal shelter is not the right place for the puppy children. Monty stands out with his gentle and observant nature. He seeks closeness to his siblings, follows them and needs time to understand situations. He knows little about life with people, touch, voices and everyday stimuli. He is not socialized and appears accordingly cautious - no wonder if you know his world. His mother was a Mastin mix, so Monty also has the potential to develop into a calm, balanced dog - if you now give him security, structure and a gentle start. Monty is currently in his crucial imprinting phase. In these weeks, the foundation for his entire life is laid. Now he needs people who give him time, support him and show him that closeness is not threatening but allows trust to grow. For Monty, we are looking for people with heart, patience and clarity. People who are ready to take on this special task, who bring time, calm and structure and do not force anything. People who see and value small steps - and allow him to arrive at his own pace. Adopting a rescue dog always means taking on a special responsibility and can also become a challenge. Monty has so much potential for trust, attachment and a stable, loving dog life - if you help him now from the puppy pen and show him how beautiful life can be. We wish Monty a loving home or an appropriate foster care where he is gently shown the world and learns that a dog's life does not have to be difficult. Are you the person who shows Monty how beautiful a life full of trust can be? Then feel free to contact his assigned adoption officer. Here is Monty's video Here is Video 2

DE·Show original

About Monty

What life with Monty looks like

Monty is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Monty, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Monty?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Monty on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Monty if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Monty already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Monty isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Monty and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
