adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Monty has found a home! His story: Monty has to sadly leave his home – he is not at fault. When you meet the young Monty, his gentle nature immediately stands out. This approximately 9-month-old male dog is friendly, playful, and shows a very social side in everyday life. Monty loves being outdoors, exploring his surroundings, and spending time with his trusted people. With other dogs, he is extremely compatible – regular visits from fellow animals were a natural part of his "home." He also behaves admirably and calmly with cats and other animals like horses or sheep. Monty also knows children well and has a special place in his heart for them. Through daily contact with riding students and a three-year-old godchild who often visited him on weekends, he is accustomed to dealing with children and meets them friendly and carefully. With people, Monty shows a fine, sensitive character. While he is quickly trusting towards women, he still has a great respect and sometimes even fear towards men. Perhaps he did not have good experiences with people in Romania in the past. However, with patience, calmness, and empathy, Monty begins to build trust – he just needs some time to gain security. Monty masters driving without problems and in a relaxed manner. Whether he can stay alone in an apartment or a house at the moment cannot be determined. At his previous owners, he could go outside at any time during the day and had a warm, sheltered spot in the tack room, but was not regularly left alone in the house. Here, too, he will learn step by step with loving guidance and gentle training. Monty is a young dog who still has the opportunity to further get to know the "Dog 1×1" program. With his open nature, good social compatibility, and willingness to learn, he brings excellent prerequisites to develop into a loyal and balanced companion. We wish him a patient home, ideally in rural surroundings, with a garden and people who will give him time to settle in and build trust. Monty is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. He brings an EU pet passport with him and can be adopted. Who would like to show Monty what a protected dog life can be like and accompany him on his journey? Many thanks to Charlott! You gave Monty his cheerful name. Status: 14.01.

Vielen Dank an Charlott! Du hast Monty seinen fröhlichen Namen geschenkt. About Monty

What life with Monty looks like

Monty is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Monty, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Monty?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Monty on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Monty if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Monty already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Monty isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Monty and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
