Moon

Cane Corso · Male · Adult · 8 years

Moon has returned to the shelter following the passing of his owner, with whom he had shared his life for many years. Having lost all his familiar landmarks, this sweet old fellow now faces a fresh start. At 8 years old, Moon is primarily seeking a peaceful life. He’s a calm dog who needs a serene environment and a trusted human companion with whom he can build a relationship based on trust. Once this bond is established, he becomes endearing and simply enjoys spending time in the company of those he loves. Moon absolutely loves going for walks. Unfortunately, due to his owner’s health condition, he hadn’t had the chance to go out regularly for quite some time. He’ll undoubtedly take great pleasure in resuming walks tailored to his own pace—walks that allow him to explore new surroundings while sharing precious moments with his future family. As for compatibility, Moon won’t be able to live with other dogs. He’s unfamiliar with cats, as he’s never lived alongside them before, but he tends to chase them when he spots them in the garden. Therefore, a home without other pets would be ideal. In terms of health, Moon has some mild arthritis, which is currently well-managed in his daily routine and doesn’t seem to significantly affect his comfort. He also has some skin sensitivities that will need to be closely monitored to ensure his well-being.

FR·Show original

About Moon

What life with Moon looks like

Moon is a adult cane corso dog waiting at Perwez) in Sans Collier.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇧🇪Adopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting Moon, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Moon?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Perwez) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Moon on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Moon if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Perwez) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Moon already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Moon isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Perwez) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Moon and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
