Moonie

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

Moonie is a domestic short haired cat aged around two years old. We found Moonie whilst on our honeymoon in Romania, hence the not so cryptic name lol. He was living on the beach at a sea food restaurant, which may sound like cat paradise, but he was thin, unneutered and come winter would have even less of a food source. We fed him every morning until the day we left and then we scooped him up and put him in the car and took him to a friends shelter in Corbeanca. Something had happened to him in the twenty four hours before we picked him up because on that morning he was spooked and limping. We will never know if he’d had a scrap with another cat or maybe a dog got him but thankfully he has been safely cared for ever since. He is now in the UK and looking for a home. He is a friendly boy with a sweet personality who enjoys a fuss. We are looking for a home where he can go outside after a settling period, or an indoor home (which has a catio as an added bonus) He is neutered, vaccinated (including rabies) and microchipped. He tested negative for FIV and FeLV. He can live with or without other cats – and can also live with a calm cat friendly dog. Moonie fostered Norwich Norfolk If you are interested please message or call between 9am to 5pm Mon – Fri or 9am to 4pm Sat. . Moonie is a domestic short haired cat aged around two years old. About Moonie

What life with Moonie looks like

Moonie is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Safe Rescue for Dogs in United Kingdom.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Moonie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Moonie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Safe Rescue for Dogs handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Moonie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Moonie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Safe Rescue for Dogs will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Moonie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Moonie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Safe Rescue for Dogs early rather than rehoming privately; they know Moonie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
