Moose

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 10 years

Say Hello to Marvellous Moose ! – Moose is a sweet and gentle boy who is currently in the care of Earth Dragons Dog Sanctuary and being lovingly fostered in Ashford, Kent. At least 10 years old and a gorgeous crossbreed, Moose has spent the majority of his years in a home where, sadly, he didn’t get to enjoy the life he truly deserved. Now, Moose is ready for his next chapter. When Moose first arrived into rescue, he was malnourished, in poor condition, had very long nails and was a desperately sad little soul. But thanks to the incredible dedication of the volunteers and his amazing foster Mummy, Moose is slowly discovering what life is really meant to be like. He is gaining weight and getting stronger. He has been lovingly groomed, his nails have been clipped, and he is beginning to enjoy all those simple things that every dog should have the chance to experience. Moose is loving his daily walks and the company of his humans. He is gradually coming out of his shell and learning that people can be kind, gentle and loving. Moose is described as having the sweetest nature and an easy dog to live with who will thrive on a loving routine. He adores humans and their company and the thought of him finally being able to live in a loving environment, excites everyone that has come to know him. Moose is looking for an adult-only home with patient, kind and understanding humans who are willing to give him the time he needs to build trust and settle in at his own pace. He walks beautifully on his lead and enjoys his gentle little outings. Because he hasn't had much exercise throughout his life, Moose would benefit from regular, short walks to gradually build up the muscle strength in his legs. It's felt that Moose may struggle with stairs, so his ideal forever home could be a bungalow or another single-level property where he can move around comfortably and safely. Moose has proved to be a real gentleman when meeting other dogs out and about. He simply pays no attention to them and is happy to carry on with his walk. At this stage, however, it's not known how Moose would be living alongside another dog in the home, so his compatibility with resident dogs would need to be carefully considered. Moose has lived with cats in the past, although his suitability for living with cats in his new home would need to be assessed on an individual basis. Moose's hearing is limited and he mainly responds to higher-pitched sounds, but this clever boy responds really well to hand signals, which is a wonderful way for his new family to communicate with him. He would absolutely love a garden to call his own where he could relax and explore, in between snoozing indoors and building up those muscles on little walks. Moose is not a cuddly dog, but he will come to you when he wants a stroke or roll on his back for a belly rub. Moose will repay your kindness and understanding tenfold and will make a very lucky person the most affectionate and loyal friend. Moose isn't asking for much. He simply wants someone who will give him time, patience, love and all the home comforts he has missed out on for so many years. Most of all, Moose needs someone who will see beyond his age and his difficult past and recognise the wonderful dog he is becoming. ———————————————————————- If you can give this amazing big boy his loving forever home, or would like to find out more, please contact Earth Dragons Dog Sanctuary below: Email : Please mention that you saw Moose on Oldies Club website.

About Moose

What life with Moose looks like

Moose is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at The Oldies Club in United Kingdom.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Moose, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Moose?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. The Oldies Club handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Moose on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Moose if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — The Oldies Club will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Moose already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Moose isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with The Oldies Club early rather than rehoming privately; they know Moose and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
