Adopt Morty - Goldener Wirbelwind sucht erfahrenes Zuhause

Golden Retriever · Male · Young · 3 years

Our Golden Retriever male dog Morty (01.07.2021) is a true sunbeam: playful, cuddly, and full of energy. He loves being active with his people—whether jogging, on long hikes, swimming in the lake, playing hide-and-seek, or running through an agility course. He’s always excited for a treat and can be left alone for several hours without any issues. Additionally, he’s a very communicative dog who likes to share what moves him with his people and reliably signals when strangers appear in the hallway. His great zest for life, however, also brings some challenges. He still shows resource guarding and has a strong prey drive, especially towards birds, insects, and small animals. Additionally, he needs to learn to remain calm and handle frustration, as he tends to react with barking or impulsive behavior in stressful situations. In lively environments, it’s hard for him to settle down; he’s more insecure and easily overwhelmed by external stimuli. Furthermore, he sometimes reacts aggressively to leashes and can defend his territory. Due to a bite incident, he currently has a leash and muzzle requirement, but efforts are being made to lift this. We are therefore looking for experienced and consistent owners who enjoy working with him and guiding his energy into the right channels. An active home with a garden would be ideal, preferably with a confident single dog by his side. He is not suitable for households with children. Those who are ready to give this intelligent, loving, and eager-to-learn male dog the care and structure he needs will be rewarded with a loyal lifelong companion.

Frequently asked

Adopting Morty - Goldener Wirbelwind sucht erfahrenes Zuhause, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Morty - Goldener Wirbelwind sucht erfahrenes Zuhause?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Düsseldorf handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Morty - Goldener Wirbelwind sucht erfahrenes Zuhause on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Morty - Goldener Wirbelwind sucht erfahrenes Zuhause if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Düsseldorf will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Morty - Goldener Wirbelwind sucht erfahrenes Zuhause already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Morty - Goldener Wirbelwind sucht erfahrenes Zuhause isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Düsseldorf early rather than rehoming privately; they know Morty - Goldener Wirbelwind sucht erfahrenes Zuhause and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
