Mossia

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Senior · 12 years

Hello, may I introduce myself? I’m Mossia. I’m already 12 years old, but far from being considered old yet. Still, there’s nothing I long for more than finally finding a stable home. Unfortunately, my life hasn’t always been a happy one so far. One day, I became “unpotty-trained,” as you humans put it. I suddenly had to pee very frequently and ended up using those wonderfully absorbent things lying around the house. After all, that’s what they’re there for, I thought. But my owners got angry and simply left me outside the door. Day and night, in winter as well as summer, I had to sleep outdoors. I still had to pee often, and at some point it started really hurting... Yet my people didn’t pay any attention to it. When I also developed a painful wound on my tail, no one helped me either. Luckily, I eventually ended up in animal rescue. They finally noticed me and my problems. I had severe bladder issues—indeed, blood and crystals were even visible in my urine with the naked eye. Thankfully, with the right treatment, I soon felt much better, and I was able to “go into the…”

About Mossia

What life with Mossia looks like

Mossia is a small senior mixed breed cat waiting at Tierschutzverein Minden e.V. in Minden.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mossia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mossia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Minden e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mossia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mossia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Minden e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mossia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mossia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Minden e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mossia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
