Moulin

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Mixed-breed Moulin is looking for a home - who will give him a chance? Moulin is currently our concern. Severely injured and with a paralyzed hind leg, he was admitted to a special clinic. There he is treated with laser therapy and further therapy sessions are necessary. Fortunately, the therapy is working well and Moulin can now take a few steps with a special hip harness. He is doing bravely in the clinic and is working hard. Moulin is also open, friendly and affectionate towards people. He enjoys closeness and is an incredibly loving and loyal dog despite everything. His therapy will last a while. However, the stay in the clinic is expensive and it would be hardly possible to move Moulin to the shelter. That's why we are looking for loving people who are willing to take on Moulin and support him on his recovery path. A home or initially a foster home where he can arrive in peace and continue to recover. Moulin shows himself as a real fighter who has not given up despite everything. His home should be on one level and have a large, securely fenced garden so that he can practice there and consolidate his walking. At this point in time, we unfortunately cannot say whether Moulin will recover completely. His future owners should be aware of this. Maybe there will be a limitation - maybe Moulin will surprise us, but maybe. We wish for him people who do not see his limitation, but Moulin. A lovable dog who finally wants to arrive and be loved. His luck has just begun - and we would like to build it up together with him. Who gives Moulin the chance for his own home and a happy life? We would like to wish our brave boy from the heart. Adopting a shelter dog always means taking on a special responsibility and can also become a challenge. The dogs bring a backpack with past experiences or unlearned situations and need time to settle into their new life. If you are seriously interested in adopting Moulin, please contact the responsible mediator of SALVA Hundehilfe. We would also be very happy about the provision of a foster home. Here you can watch Moulin's video.

About Moulin

What life with Moulin looks like

Moulin is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Moulin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Moulin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Moulin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Moulin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Moulin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Moulin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Moulin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
