Adopt Mouse

Lurcher · Female · Young · 1 year

Mouse is a sweet and affectionate one-year-old Lurcher who is looking for a loving home where she can continue to enjoy all the things that make her happiest. She is currently based at Battersea Old Windsor. When Mouse first arrived with us, she showed a shy side and took a little time to warm up to new people. With gentle encouragement and patient companionship, her confidence has blossomed and she now enjoys meeting new people, happily seeking out fuss and attention from those she trusts. Mouse is a playful girl who thrives in the company of other dogs, particularly fellow sighthounds and dogs with a similar energy level, she loves a game of chase. She can feel a little uncomfortable if dogs rush up to her, so her new owners will need to advocate for her and help ensure her interactions remain positive. She could potentially share her home with a similar breed to her own. One of Mouse's favourite activities is stretching her legs and showing off her speed. She loves running around our paddocks and would benefit from having access to a secure private garden where she can enjoy some off-lead freedom. Mouse also enjoys exploring the world through her nose and would love walks that provide plenty of opportunities to sniff and investigate her surroundings. Mouse adores playing with toys, especially soft toys that can be thrown for her to chase and carry around. With her friendly nature, playful personality and love of both people and dogs, Mouse is sure to bring lots of joy to her future home. If you have already completed our online rehoming form and would like to know more about Mouse you can e-mail our rehoming team on to register your interest. About Mouse

What life with Mouse looks like

Mouse is a medium-sized young adult lurcher dog waiting at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mouse, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mouse?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Battersea Dogs & Cats Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mouse on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mouse if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Battersea Dogs & Cats Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mouse already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mouse isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mouse and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
