Adopt SAGA

European Shorthair · Female · Young · 3 years

Status: Found Breed: European Sex: Female Microchip: 967000010643833 Born: 19/03/2023 Country: Belgium Arrived at shelter: 20/03/2026 SAGA is a European cat, gentle and delicate, carrying a great sensitivity within her. At first, she is timid, observing much, taking her time, then deeply attaching herself to those who offer her calm, patience, and respect. Her qualities and temperament: Timid cat — She needs a serene and predictable environment to thrive. Very clean — She uses her litter box perfectly. Can handle solitude — She can remain alone without stress. Social with cats — The presence of a fellow animal of the same species could even reassure her. Essential needs: A garden: SAGA used to go outside and needs to be able to access the outdoors to feel well. A calm home: No young children, as sudden movements and noise stress her. A patient environment: She will progress at her own pace, with gentleness and kindness. Points still to discover: Apartment life: To be evaluated according to the environment. Compatibility with dogs: Not tested. Car travel: To be observed. SAGA would be happy with people: Calm and patient, able to offer her a reassuring environment. Without young children. With a secure garden where she can explore gently. Possibly with another cat, if that cat is calm and well-coded. SAGA deserves a family who will see the beauty of her shy soul and will allow her to blossom at her own pace. Adoption possible only with a "permit to keep an animal" if you reside in Wallonia. For more information, please contact us ONLY by phone at 02 204 49 50.

About SAGA

What life with SAGA looks like

SAGA is a young adult european shorthair cat waiting at Help Animals in Brussels.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇧🇪Adopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting SAGA, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about SAGA?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Help Animals handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw SAGA on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt SAGA if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Help Animals will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is SAGA already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if SAGA isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Help Animals early rather than rehoming privately; they know SAGA and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
