Adopt Mufasa

Unknown

OBS! This cat is placed as a "pensioner". MUFASA is a brown-gray and white male cat born around 2019. He came to the Cat Shelter after living homeless at a farm in Skåne. Here at the Cat Shelter, he has continued his development, as his foster mother writes, "The path to Mufasa's heart is food and not having a hurry. He has a pretty long start-up phase, i.e., he needs some time to understand that you want to give him time. So, just sitting and talking to him before you try to approach is the trick. The more often I greet him, the shorter the start-up phase. Mufasa has very expressive ears and eyes, but they don't always speak a clear language. A lot of time has passed to learn to understand him and especially his ears. He is a real gentle giant when it's quiet around the Cat Shelter. Then he can even lay his whole head on one hand while you pet him. So how could he then be in the right home? I think there is also a little playful boy inside if the circumstances are right, but it needs to come in his own time." We have chosen to pensioner Mufasa as he has some health issues that make us want to take a "forever responsibility" for him. Besides his sensitive stomach, he is in an early stage of chronic kidney disease, and he has struvite crystals in his bladder. He eats special food and will need to continue doing so for the rest of his life. Despite all this, Mufasa is doing very well!

OBS!

About Mufasa

What life with Mufasa looks like

Mufasa is a small adult cat waiting at Stockholms Katthem in Stockholms Katthem.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇸🇪Adopting from Sweden

Swedish shelters require an adoption application and home visit. Animals are chipped, vaccinated, and sterilized. Cross-border placements within the EU use the standard pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mufasa, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mufasa?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Stockholms Katthem handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mufasa on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mufasa if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Stockholms Katthem will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mufasa already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mufasa isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Stockholms Katthem early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mufasa and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (SV). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
