Mumpitz

Mixed Breed · Male

Mumpitz is a lovable stray cat who shows his best side at our shelter. He is affectionate, playful, and just a really nice guy. He enjoys closeness and petting as much as a good game. Mumpitz is FIV-positive, but this doesn't stop him from living a happy and fulfilling life. We are looking for a home for him in a secure indoor environment, preferably with a cat-proof balcony. A coexistence with other FIV-positive cats is also possible, as long as they get along. FIV is not contagious to humans or other species. For Mumpitz, his diagnosis means that his future owners should pay a little more attention to his health - otherwise he just wants to do what cats love to do: play, cuddle, snooze and wrap his humans around his paw. If you are looking for a happy, affectionate cat with a good dose of charm, you should definitely meet Mumpitz.

DE·Show original

About Mumpitz

What life with Mumpitz looks like

Mumpitz is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierschutzverein Trier und Umgebung e.V. in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mumpitz, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mumpitz?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Trier und Umgebung e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mumpitz on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mumpitz if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Trier und Umgebung e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mumpitz already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mumpitz isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Trier und Umgebung e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mumpitz and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
