Naala

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 6 years

Gentle Naala needs a new home as, sadly, she lost her person recently and needs Friends of Akitas help finding her a loving place to enjoy for the rest of her life. She initially came into their care back in 2019 and was adopted in 2020. She’s spent the last 6 years knowing love like every dog should. She now needs help again. Naala is a loving, 9 year old Akita who clearly misses having her person. She had a beautiful bond and she’ll form that same connection with someone new who understands Akitas and appreciates her gentle, affectionate nature, greeting visitors with a waggy tail and a big Akita smile. She gives a polite woof to announce your arrival, then melts into you the second you find her tickle spot, her little leg going as she enjoys every moment. Naala has a gentle nature and takes treats beautifully softly, sits, gives paw, and offers the sweetest kisses. She has a playful spirit and gets the zoomies, spins in circles, and proudly brings you a toy to share. She's definitely an affectionate companion and loves fuss, enjoys being stroked while she has a treat or toy, and adores sharing a cup of tea with her favourite humans. Naala is more of a grazer than a guzzler when it comes to her food. Naala enjoys her home comforts. When she’s relaxing or left alone, you might find her snoozing on your bed if she gets the chance, feeling safe and settled. Despite her age, she doesn’t look like an older lady when she’s springing around with joy. She’s full of heart, character and loyalty and can live with children. Naala deserves a calm, loving home where she can be someone’s whole world. She isn’t comfortable with dogs up close. She’ll ignore them at a distance but doesn’t want canine friends. She’d thrive as the only dog in the home. Naala is also house and lead-trained, but she doesn't need a lot of exercise. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ If you think you could offer Naala the companionship and love she’s longing for, please contact Friends of Akitas as follows: Complete the adoption form here. About Naala

What life with Naala looks like

Naala is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at The Oldies Club in United Kingdom.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Naala, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Naala?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. The Oldies Club handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Naala on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Naala if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — The Oldies Club will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Naala already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Naala isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with The Oldies Club early rather than rehoming privately; they know Naala and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
