Adopt NAÏA

Border Collie · Female · Puppy · 7 months

Sex: female Age: 7 months Weight: 8.6 kg Estimated adult weight: Between 11 and 14 kg. Breed: Small Border mix Origin: Spain Available for adoption in: Switzerland Current location: Private boarding in Andalusia, Spain at our expense. Naïa will be adoptable from the Romandy region of Switzerland starting May 20, 2026. She will travel with her sister Yuna who has been adopted. We will give her time to settle in and we will get to know her. For now, on May 8, 2026, we have not yet found the ideal home for her. Despite the number of requests. The selection process is the same as from Spain, your file must match the profile of the adopters we are looking for. ************************************************************ NAÏA and Yuna were found near a small river, they were recovered by the Guardia civil. Abandoned? Escape attempt? No one knows... but one thing is certain: they now have a second chance, and they are determined to take full advantage of it. These two small Border crosses are absolutely adorable. Very close to each other, they share everything: games, discoveries, moments of tenderness. They are truly happy, curious, playful, and deeply attached dogs. They are still discovering the world with their baby eyes: everything is new, everything is to learn. They are social, currently surrounded by other dogs in their foster family and they enjoy this presence. With other animals of the same species, they are comfortable and everything goes very well. As is often the case with young dogs with an unknown past, we note some small fears, perfectly normal. Nothing to worry about, but they will need gentleness, patience and kindness to continue gaining confidence. They will need to be accompanied in their learning, to strengthen their foundations and to be given a reassuring and consistent environment. We will prefer for them an environment that is not urban, calm, where they can evolve peacefully and at their own pace. Adopters who are available, committed and sensitive to positive education will be ideal to help them become balanced and confident dogs. Two little hearts full of life, still a bit fragile but already so bright. Two beautiful stories to write together or separately, for families ready to commit with sweetness, consistency and seriousness. Children: From 7-10 years old, comfortable with dogs, respectful and attentive. Adopter profile: We will be very demanding in placing these little gems: People aged 30 to 65 max, in good physical condition First time adopters welcome Very large availability during the day (regular walks) for cleanliness Good physical condition and great patience are essential Experts of the breed welcome Mandatory commitment in an educational and socialization program (followed by the association) Other dogs accepted if they are balanced and spayed Non-urban environment Secure garden is a plus for cleanliness, but if there is no garden it is mandatory to have small green areas nearby and quickly accessible for regular needs No stairs with more than 5 steps Thoughtful and long-term commitment Important:

Abandon ? Fugue ? About NAÏA

What life with NAÏA looks like

NAÏA is a puppy/kitten border collie dog waiting at Association Coeurs de Chiens in Lausanne (VD).

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting NAÏA, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about NAÏA?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Association Coeurs de Chiens handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw NAÏA on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt NAÏA if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Association Coeurs de Chiens will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is NAÏA already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if NAÏA isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Association Coeurs de Chiens early rather than rehoming privately; they know NAÏA and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
