Adopt Nala

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 10 years

Born on 29.02.2024, I am a American Staffordshire Terrier-Mix girl with plenty of energy. I always get really excited about my people, I am friendly and sometimes a bit stormy, you can just tell when I am happy. Keeping still is unfortunately not yet one of my talents, but I am learning. I love water! I think splashing is great and maybe I will even discover swimming for myself someday. That would be really good for my hips. Shortly after my arrival at the shelter, it was noticed that I do not run completely round. A X-ray revealed that I have a pronounced HD (Hip Dysplasia). Currently, I do not need medication and am supported with food supplements. Physiotherapy would of course also be really great for me, to help my hips with targeted exercises and build muscle. That is why I wish for people who will pay a little attention to me: a ground-floor home would be great, as would a healthy weight, appropriate exercise, and lots of head work. I am not only physically active, but also quite smart and want to be kept busy. It is also important that my new people help me learn to be more calm. I can be quickly affected by hectic moods and then sometimes get a bit wild. Therefore, a more quiet household would fit me well. Children should ideally be older (around 10 years or more) to avoid a permanently wild home. I get along with other dogs in general, but like with people, sometimes it just depends on the chemistry. I have not met any cats or small animals, so a home without them would probably be better. If you are looking for a young, lively female dog who still has a lot to learn and is looking for people who will fairly accompany her and take care of her hips, then get in touch. Maybe we are a perfect match. Name Nala Number H 162-26 Gender Female Born 29.02.24 In the animal shelter since 05.05. Gets along with other dogs.

About Nala

What life with Nala looks like

Nala is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Wunstorf und Umgebung von 1934 e.V. in Wunstorf.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nala, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nala?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Wunstorf und Umgebung von 1934 e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nala on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nala if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Wunstorf und Umgebung von 1934 e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nala already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nala isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Wunstorf und Umgebung von 1934 e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nala and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
