Adopt Nala

Unknown · Young · 1 year

What we can report about Nala How did Nala end up in the animal shelter? Nala was found as a puppy, around 3-4 months old, in Bosnia and brought to Germany. She lived with a couple for 8 years. After the birth of a baby and the serious illness of the woman, they no longer felt able to care for Nala and surrendered her to the our shelter animal shelter in Dachau. Due to her cute appearance, Nala quickly had an interested adopter who took her over after several meetings and walks at the end of November 2025. Unfortunately, the partner developed an allergy, and Nala had to return to the animal shelter at Christmas 2025. How does Nala behave in the animal shelter and during walks? Nala coped very poorly with being given up by her long-term trusted people. She developed separation anxiety and, during the first walks, constantly searched for traces and the vehicle of her former owners. Nala is a very lively female dog who quickly becomes very excited and nervous in new situations. In her insecurity, she barks and jumps on the leash and at people. However, she learns very quickly and can be easily motivated with treats. With familiar people who exude calm, Nala handles even difficult situations better. Nala is now relatively well accustomed to wearing a muzzle. In stressful situations (e.g., at the vet), this precaution is definitely necessary. She is house-trained and, according to her previous owners, could stay alone at home for longer periods.

In Stresssituationen (z. About Nala

What life with Nala looks like

Nala is a young adult dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Dachau e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nala, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nala?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Dachau e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nala on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nala if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Dachau e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nala already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nala isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Dachau e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nala and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
