Adopt Nalle

Labrador Retriever · Male · Young · 1 year

Nalle is a young Labrador who shows exactly what a brown Lab looks like, having not learned much in life yet. He loves every human, is absolutely fearless and unshaken, and goes through thick and thin with his people. He loves being stroked and meets strangers openly and friendly. With too much manipulation, he growls, but otherwise he still wags his tail on the vet table. Nalle needs a home that can provide a lot of guidance and help him settle down. Otherwise, he will quickly destroy the apartment out of stress, barking non-stop and using furniture as a course. Even walking calmly on a leash outside still needs to be practiced a bit more, but he’s already making great progress. For him, he is absolutely relaxed with any external stimuli. Nalle seems to know very little. Not long ago, his previous owners retrieved him from the “breeder,” now he must leave due to a loss of apartment and job. Nalle is generally compatible with dogs but is very awkward about it. During meetings, he still bickers a lot. Nalle has a lot of drive to work and to do something. Due to his bad hip, he will not be a high-performance sports dog anymore 😁 He would probably have a lot of enthusiasm for nose work and such. Where are the Retriever fans or those who want to become one? Nalle has a lot of potential to become a great dog. For that, he needs people who can provide a framework for him to calm down and who are willing to work through all the stress in the initial phase, making compromises, and showing as much perseverance as Nalle can when something is important to him. And to those who want to give Nalle a place where he can arrive and calm down! Do you think you are the right person for Nalle or would you like to get to know him better?

About Nalle

What life with Nalle looks like

Nalle is a large young adult labrador retriever dog waiting at Tierschutzverein für Tirol in Innsbruck.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nalle, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nalle?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein für Tirol handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nalle on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nalle if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein für Tirol will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nalle already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nalle isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein für Tirol early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nalle and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
