Namika

Mixed Breed Cat · Female · Young · 1 year

A female, neutered cat, born around 2025, is available for adoption. Namika is a timid and anxious cat who struggled with shelter life. She was recently moved to a foster home to find peace. Initially, she was shy and preferred her hiding spots, but curiosity is slowly winning out. She is slowly gaining trust. She is unfamiliar with playing with humans and is skeptical and anxious during play attempts. She loves playing with her ball tower and sometimes allows the ball to be tossed. She currently finds hands frightening, but she seeks contact with her humans at her own pace. We are looking for a quiet home for this beautiful young cat, with people who will not overwhelm her and give her time to adjust. Children and dogs should not be in the new home, as she flees from loud noises and fast movements. After settling in, Namika would like to explore the world again and enjoy the sunshine outdoors.

DE·Show original

About Namika

What life with Namika looks like

Namika is a small young adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at Tierheim Neu-Amerika in Annaberg-Buchholz.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Namika, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Namika?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Neu-Amerika handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Namika on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Namika if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Neu-Amerika will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Namika already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Namika isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Neu-Amerika early rather than rehoming privately; they know Namika and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
