Nanook – Vermittlungshilfe

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Nanook, a 2-year-old male Husky, is looking for a new family. He was given up to the Weinheim animal shelter at about 1 ¾ years old and was lucky to be adopted by a couple who have given him a loving home until now. Since his current owners have separated and it is not possible for both of them to continue providing a home for him due to shift work, he is eager to find a new family. Nanook is very open to people and loves attention, which he rewards with absolute loyalty and a loving gaze with his steel blue eyes. He is an active, playful companion. He is currently learning the basics of dog training and is making progress every day. He is naturally house-trained from the start. He walks well on a leash, but needs to continue practicing with him. He can handle being alone for 3-4 hours (although he doesn't like it). He loves long walks in the countryside and cuddles. He is looking for a rural home / people with dog experience who have patience and time for him. Currently, there are no children in his household, but he is very open-minded and has nothing against playmates. They should be old enough, though, because he is still young and can be a bit boisterous. If you are looking for a loyal companion for life, Nanook is the right one!

About Nanook – Vermittlungshilfe

What life with Nanook – Vermittlungshilfe looks like

Nanook – Vermittlungshilfe is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Whm. u. Umg. e.V. in Weinheim.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nanook – Vermittlungshilfe, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nanook – Vermittlungshilfe?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Whm. u. Umg. e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nanook – Vermittlungshilfe on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nanook – Vermittlungshilfe if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Whm. u. Umg. e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Nanook – Vermittlungshilfe already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nanook – Vermittlungshilfe isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Whm. u. Umg. e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nanook – Vermittlungshilfe and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
