Adopt Nanuk

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 4 months

Nanuk is a lively, playful young male dog with lots of energy. He is active, attentive, and brings plenty of joy with his lively nature to his future home. Like every young dog, Nanuk still needs training, patience, and loving guidance. He is a charming little character who sometimes shows his own mind – always friendly and open. Nanuk is expected to be of medium size and can be rehomed well with a family with children. He can also live with other animals if he is appropriately introduced and lovingly raised as he ages. Now, Nanuk is looking for exactly the people who enjoy having a young dog and can give him a start in a wonderful dog life with love, structure, and humor. Glück für Pfoten e.V. – The Way to a New Life – Tel. and Mail: including safety harness As we are working professionals, we might only be able to get back to you after some hours. It is best to contact the above mentioned mediator initially in writing (by email or WhatsApp) and ask for a callback (don't forget to mention your phone number). Please be patient! Our shelter animals travel with Traces and are exclusively rehomed within Germany (nationwide). If you wish to apply for a dog and live in rented accommodation, please arrange a written tenancy agreement stating that the husbandry of (another or a new) dog is allowed. We can only rehome dogs up to the 2nd floor if there is no lift, to prevent any health restrictions.

About Nanuk

What life with Nanuk looks like

Nanuk is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Glück für Pfoten e.V. in Dortmund.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nanuk, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nanuk?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Glück für Pfoten e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nanuk on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nanuk if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Glück für Pfoten e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nanuk already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nanuk isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Glück für Pfoten e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nanuk and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
