Adopt Nanuq

Mixed Breed · Male

Mixed Breed (non LOF) Chip Number: 642090002253747 Background: Went out from the Datcha shelter in Romania. He used to live with his owners in a house. When they sold their house to rent an apartment, they left him alone on their old property. The owner used to feed him once a week with bread and water. One day, tired of this situation, Nanuq went to explore the neighboring property. Unfortunately, the neighbor did not like it and threatened to kill him if he came back. Another incident required surgery: he got trapped and injured on one leg. After that, his owners took him to their apartment, where he was chained on the balcony, because the apartment owner did not want a dog inside. A neighbor, hearing his cries, took the initiative to feed and walk him every day. Faced with the difficult situation of Nanuq, the caretaker asked for help to find a good family. Personality/Description: Nanuq deserves a loving and attentive family who will offer him a warm and stable home. He has a fear of humans after his experience, possibly growling and biting. Nevertheless, Nanuq is a friendly and happy dog who likes to play with children, once he is trustful! He will bring a lot of joy and affection to his new family. Cats: YES (sees cats during his walks and does not react. He seems rather interested in the bowls) Adoption Fees: 282 euros (membership included) Adoption outside of France is entirely possible. To adopt, you must also be able to visit the foster family to meet the animal. Vaccinated: YES + rabies and passport To adopt, please complete this form: have this certificate completed by a veterinarian or ASV and present it to us after signing it: Finally, this dog does not suit you or is no longer available?

About Nanuq

What life with Nanuq looks like

Nanuq is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Action 4 Pets in France.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nanuq, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nanuq?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Action 4 Pets handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nanuq on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nanuq if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Action 4 Pets will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nanuq already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nanuq isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Action 4 Pets early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nanuq and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
