Naomi

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

Cats: Unknown, can be tested for children: Yes, from school age Naomi is a female dog that has touched us in many ways – with her story, her strength, and her incredible development. Since August 2024, we have been trying to secure the black beauty to finally get her spayed. She kept giving birth to puppies, but she would not be caught. Although we managed in the past to bring her puppies to safety, we could not break the cycle without reaching Naomi herself. On Valentine's Day 2025, it was finally time: Together with her only a few days old puppies, Naomi was secured and brought to our shelter. At that point, she was extremely shy – she would not be touched, avoiding any contact. We did not know if she would ever be ready for a home in Germany. But Naomi taught us otherwise. With patience, calmness, and loving affection, Naomi opened up a little more each day. Now, she greets our animal rescuer Virginia with joy, rolls over, and asks for cuddles. She enjoys human contact – something we could hardly imagine at the beginning. Her trust is growing steadily – and with it, the hope that she will soon find her own home. Naomi is a friendly, socially compatible female dog who gets along problemlessly with male and female dogs in the shelter. Since we do not know what Naomi has experienced in her past life, her future people should be ready to teach her dog 1x1 in small, loving steps. Everything is new for her – but she shows us every day how much she wants to learn and develop. For Naomi, we wish empathetic, patient people with a calm home, ideally in rural surroundings and with a securely fenced garden. People who recognize her progress, do not overwhelm her, and give her the time to continue blooming. A foster home as a stepping stone to a permanent home would also be a great gift for her. Naomi has proven how much courage and trust are within her – now, all that is missing is a loving place where she can begin her new life. Who gives this special female dog the chance she so deserves? Strays & Stories e.V.‍Querdamm 1630855 LangenhagenAmtsgericht Region HannoverVereinsregister-Nr. About Naomi

What life with Naomi looks like

Naomi is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Strays & Stories e.V. in Langenhagen.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Naomi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Naomi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Strays & Stories e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Naomi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Naomi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Strays & Stories e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Naomi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Naomi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Strays & Stories e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Naomi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
