Adopt Narco

Presa Canario · Male · Adult · 4 years

Narco – a gentle giant with a big heart seeks his home Narco is an approximately four-year-old Presa Canario (Dogo Canario) who landed in a Spanish animal shelter. His start there was far from easy: Upon arrival, his general condition was clearly compromised. But Narco has impressively fought his way back – today, he shows himself as a sturdy, strong male dog with a calm nature and a very special charm. On-site, Narco has long won everyone's hearts. He is friendly, open, and very people-oriented. Gentle, he seeks the proximity of the helpers, enjoys every bit of attention, and meets everyone with a pleasant calmness and composure. In the dog group, he shows himself balanced and sovereign – a true peacekeeper who avoids conflicts. Rassetypisch, Narco brings a calm self-confidence, but is nevertheless active and movement-loving. The Presa Canario belongs to the powerful Molossers with a high threshold for excitement, which, with clear leadership and bonding, are exceptionally good-natured and loyal companions. Narco shows himself exactly like that: sensitive, gentle, and very pleasant to handle. The cat test also went smoothly, which additionally characterizes Narco as a relaxed roommate. For Narco, we wish people with experience or serious interest in this special breed who can offer him security, clear structures, and at the same time a lot of affection. Please inform yourself beforehand whether the husbandry of a Presa Canario in your state has special regulations. Narco is ready for a new beginning – a loyal, gentle hearted dog who just wants to finally arrive. Narco was tested positive for leishmaniasis. Further information on this disease can be found on our information page. His mediator will gladly advise you on this as well.

About Narco

What life with Narco looks like

Narco is a extra-large adult presa canario dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Narco, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Narco?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Narco on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Narco if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Narco already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Narco isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Narco and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
