Nectar

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Puppy · 4 months

Nectar is still a cautious dog, but has made significant progress. His routine provides him with stability, and he trusts the people who accompany him. He especially loves the excursions to the dog park. With eager anticipation, he waits every Sunday at the entrance of his enclosure, allowing his harness to be put on calmly because he understands the routine and knows where the journey will take him. On the way there, he still shows some insecurity, but a confident dog friend – currently Azula – gives him the necessary security to overcome this hurdle. At the park, Nectar blossoms. He feels comfortable, plays, and runs around joyfully, always keeping his reference dog in sight and strongly orienting himself towards her. He gladly accepts treats, as his trust in his trusted people has grown, but he still doesn’t like being petted. For Nectar, living in a large pack is not strictly necessary, but a second dog – preferably a young, friendly, and balanced female dog – would be ideal. His new family should already have an experienced female dog that he can orient himself towards. In a familiar environment, he knows the routines precisely and feels secure. Nectar gets along well with other dogs, but he especially loves his friend Azula. 🙂 Towards strangers, he is still very reserved and does not like to be touched. Are you the right person to get to know Nectar and build his trust? Can you provide the routine he needs to gradually open up and recognize how wonderful a life in a family can be? With a confident only dog by his side, Nectar could gradually get used to a loving family life. Nectar is still a bit shy and not as bold as his sisters Honey and Toffee. Nectar is definitely a more laid-back puppy. With people, Nectar still doesn’t fully come out of his shell, but the volunteers are working on building his trust. However, he loves playing and running around with his siblings. But for everything else, he prefers to observe first before taking action himself.

DE·Show original

About Nectar

What life with Nectar looks like

Nectar is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nectar, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nectar?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nectar on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nectar if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nectar already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nectar isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nectar and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
