Nell

Golden Retriever · Female · Adult · 4 years

NELL WOULD LIKE A HOME WITH HER BEST FRIEND JACKSON 15-08-26 Nell is a very sweet girl who has come to us with her best friend Jackson after their owner sadly passed away. Nell was originally adopted from us as a young puppy and has spent the last several years being loved and cherished in a home. She is now looking for another forever home where she can continue to be a much loved member of the family. Nell and Jackson love each other very much and are very bonded, so we are looking for a special home where they can stay together. Nell is a lovely girl who adores people and happily greets everyone with a waggy tail. She enjoys lots of fuss and attention and will make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a friendly, affectionate dog. Nell is a little overweight at the moment, but she absolutely loves going for walks, so regular exercise will be a great way to help her get back to a healthier weight. She can be quite strong on the lead and does pull, so her adopters will need to be confident and physically able to handle her. Having previously lived in a home, Nell should be house trained, although she may need some gentle reminders while she settles into her new surroundings. We would consider homing Nell and Jackson with dog-savvy teenagers. Nell and Jackson have already lost the person they loved, so it is incredibly important to us that they are able to face this next chapter together. They are looking for a loving home with someone who can give them both the time, care and security they deserve. A home with 6ft fencing is essential. If you think you could offer Nell and Jackson their happy ever after together, please don't leave them waiting. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.

About Nell

What life with Nell looks like

Nell is a adult golden retriever dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nell, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nell?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nell on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nell if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nell already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nell isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nell and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
