adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Nemo can stay forever in his foster home! His story: Nemo, the handsome fellow, finally wants to start a new life. Nemo is waiting in the completely overcrowded public shelter in Baia Mare, hoping to be seen by loving people who are ready to offer him a safe home. Nemo is estimated to be around 9 years old. With a shoulder height of about 65 cm and a weight of slightly more than 35 kg, Nemo is a large dog who still has plenty of strength and power. Nemo has not yet lost his trust in people and has made good progress. Nemo is open and friendly, enjoys being handled, and had no problems with the harness. He gets along well with his fellow animals. We do not know how he handles cats, and it cannot be tested. We wish for Nemo to be dog-experienced people who show a loving, consistent, but positive training style. Nemo needs people who can read and interpret the dog's body language correctly. We know nothing about Nemo's past. We assume, however, that he has never lived in a household. Nemo still needs to learn how life in a family and household works. He needs people who can give him enough time and love without rushing him. For Nemo, we are looking for a home without other male dogs or cats. Children are not seen in his new home. Nemo looks forward to a quiet, rural home. An enclosed garden where Nemo, after an exciting day with you, can lie in the sun would be a dream come true. Nemo is a German Shepherd or a mixed breed of German Shepherd. He will therefore bring appropriate hunting dog qualities and is not suitable as a city dog. The handsome Nemo is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. He possesses his EU pet passport and can be adopted even if he is in a foster home. Many thanks to Nina M.! You gave Nemo his name and thus an identity! Heartfelt thanks to Annette W.! You support Nemo with a monthly sponsorship! As of: 10.06.

Lieben Dank Annette W.! Du unterstützt Nemo mit einer monatlichen Patenschaft! Stand: 10.06.2024

About Nemo

What life with Nemo looks like

Nemo is a extra-large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nemo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nemo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nemo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nemo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nemo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nemo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nemo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
