Neo – Aufenthaltsort Mittelhessen

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 4 months

Rüden NEO, born approximately September 2019, height approximately 50 cm, weight around 17 kg, looking for a new home immediately. Location: 35428 Langgöns. We are using our reach to support Neo's owner in finding a new home for him. He is in urgent need of a new home - and specifically people who are experienced with dogs, confident, and willing to work through his issues. Neo came to Germany in the summer of 2020 and has been living with his current owner ever since. Due to various changes in his owner's life, his upbringing could not be consistently continued. Many of his insecurities and behavioral problems have intensified over time. Neo is an insecure dog that needs clear and reliable leadership. At the same time, he has learned that threatening behavior often leads to the desired outcome. For example, showing teeth or growling can end an uncomfortable situation. He increasingly uses this behavior. It is therefore particularly important to correctly read his signals: Neo can approach people curiously and seek contact. However, this does not automatically mean that he wants to be touched or stroked. If his personal space is invaded, he can suddenly growl or show his teeth. There have been several bite incidents, including a serious one with several injuries. Neo also shows problematic behavior when it comes to resource guarding. Taking away objects or supposedly valuable resources can be a critical situation for him. He does not reliably allow touching, lifting, or certain grooming measures; animal doctor visits can be challenging accordingly. ❗ Neo is not to be placed in a household with children. Due to his background, living with babies and small children is not possible. Another important issue is being alone. Neo has hardly learned this in his life so far. Even as a young dog, he was allowed to accompany his owner almost everywhere and has become very attached to him. Leaving him alone in the apartment is therefore difficult for him. Even a few minutes can be problematic and he then starts to mark, for example. A dog box is currently used, in which he feels safer. Here, patient and step-by-step training is needed in a new home, instead of simply confronting him with being alone. Neo is rather reserved when meeting other dogs. He does not necessarily need dog contact and often prefers to leave after a brief sniffing. He seems to get along better with male dogs than with female dogs. Neo really enjoys walks in quiet areas like the forest or fields. However, as soon as there is more hustle and bustle outside, he also quickly becomes insecure. Loud noises such as garbage trucks, trucks, or airplanes can frighten him greatly. In such situations, he reacts with loud barking and pulls heavily on the leash - there is a risk that he will break free. Free running is currently not possible due to the not sufficiently trained recall. He also likes to fetch, as long as a super treat comes out for him afterwards - he has a great preference for apple, banana, liverwurst, or cheese. Despite all his issues, Neo also has his pleasant sides: In familiar surroundings, he quickly calms down, does not need constant action, and is relaxed on the go. He feels very comfortable in the car and long car rides are no problem for him. What Neo needs now is not sympathy, but the right leadership. People are sought who can read dogs, respect boundaries and body language, are not easily impressed, and are willing to work through his issues with him. Ideally, his new people already have experience with anxious, insecure or resource-guarding dogs and are not afraid to work with a good, professional dog trainer. Neo is not a beginner dog and not one where you can hope that his problems will solve themselves. If someone takes him on, they must be willing to take responsibility, assess situations ahead of time, and at the same time give him the security and orientation that he has been missing so far. Maybe there are people somewhere who are not looking for the perfect dog, but want to give a dog with edges and corners a real second chance. ❤️‍🩹 We do not place in very urban living situations or in families with small children. Please only submit an adoption request if the takeover is possible at the time mentioned in the text & you have already discussed the adoption of a new family member with your family (possibly other involved persons such as employer, landlord, interim care). Please note that the dogs described here are currently in their large-scale care or in the shelter in a limited, safe environment and have little contact with other people or environmental stimuli outside the property. The descriptions are based on the behavior in this familiar environment. Especially puppies and young dogs are still in the development of their character. For a successful settling in a

About Neo – Aufenthaltsort Mittelhessen

What life with Neo – Aufenthaltsort Mittelhessen looks like

Neo – Aufenthaltsort Mittelhessen is a large puppy mixed breed dog waiting at Kreta Hunde (Tierschutz Heraklion) in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Neo – Aufenthaltsort Mittelhessen, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Neo – Aufenthaltsort Mittelhessen?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Kreta Hunde (Tierschutz Heraklion) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Neo – Aufenthaltsort Mittelhessen on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Neo – Aufenthaltsort Mittelhessen if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Kreta Hunde (Tierschutz Heraklion) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Neo – Aufenthaltsort Mittelhessen already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Neo – Aufenthaltsort Mittelhessen isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Kreta Hunde (Tierschutz Heraklion) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Neo – Aufenthaltsort Mittelhessen and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
