Adopt Nero

Mixed Breed · Male · Kitten · 2 months

Nero Tier-ID: 1260 At the animal shelter since 27.05.2026 (Current Interested Parties: 0) Nero is a small kitten that is only rehomed with another kitten or to an already existing cat. Socialization is essential for kittens and goes well beyond the "12 weeks" mark. Kittens should be rehomed in pairs because they are social animals that need a lot of attention and company. Growing up and playing together strengthens their bond and provides more mental stimulation, which prevents boredom and behavioral issues. Additionally, they feel less lonely and safer, significantly improving their well-being. This also makes the adjustment to a new home easier, as they support each other. Furthermore, it is at least minimally important for future outdoor cats to learn cat language. If cats understand each other's body language and signals, they can better communicate and avoid conflicts with other animals or humans. This helps them move more safely in the wild and better assess their environment. A good understanding of cat language is therefore an important foundation for a harmonious outdoor life. Future owners agree to have kittens from our animal welfare association neutered at the appropriate life month (females at 6 months, males at 8 months)

About Nero

What life with Nero looks like

Nero is a puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Tierschutzverein Lippstadt und Umgebung e.V. in Germany.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nero, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nero?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Lippstadt und Umgebung e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nero on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nero if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Lippstadt und Umgebung e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nero already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nero isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Lippstadt und Umgebung e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nero and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
