Naetti

European Shorthair · Unknown

At a foster home in 37586 Dassel Hello, I am Naetti, as my foster family calls me at least. It probably means something like "pretty" or "beautiful" in Finnish. It should rather be a nickname for my name "Netball". I live with Jara and three other cats of my foster family. Since I was overwhelmed by the first cat of my first family and increasingly retreated, we had to go our separate ways. It was probably a shock when I came to my foster family and there were just four cats running around, all as big as giants. Then I mustered all my courage and eventually came out of my shell after a long time. And immediately I achieved my first success: When someone irritates and ignores me, I defend myself. Then everything gets better and suddenly everyone is nice to me. They now have a polite respect, especially the one funny red one. She was always very cheeky. So I am now more relaxed and open to new cat friends. So far, I am still unsettled by my foster parents. But since I am so tiny and quiet, I simply slip everywhere to be part of everything. They apparently do not notice when I zip past them a centimeter at a time. My foster mom calls me a little ghost. What that is supposed to mean. When they sit somewhere, I always sit with them. Yes, okay, with a little distance. But somehow I would like more contact… Well… Buhuuuu, I am so scared of hands. I rather like them when they have something yummy. My foster mom says that routines and good food have really helped me. I have also developed a bigger appetite. My favorite activities are hiding, observing, fiddling with boards, and by the fireplace. Oooh, fires are so beautiful to watch and cozy warm. Playing is actually pretty cool. But sometimes I do not know what to do with a toy. As a final personal note from my foster mom: Naetti has grown very dear to us here, as she has made incredible progress. We are quite sure that she will eventually allow gentle stroking, although we can never guarantee that. But with the right sensitivity and patience, Naetti allows a lot of bonding. And we believe that she also wishes for that. By now, short sniffs with a finger are possible and she always comes back if she gets startled. As soon as you enter the house, she wiggles around you. She has a lot of love to give and is looking for a quiet home, patient people with creative ideas for Naetti’s entertainment and further relaxation. A secure roam would be desirable and a fireplace would be the cherry on top of the cake. For more information, please contact the this breed Shelter in our area.

About Naetti

What life with Naetti looks like

Naetti is a very small adult european shorthair cat waiting at Tierheim Northeim.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Naetti, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Naetti?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Northeim handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Naetti on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Naetti if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Northeim will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Naetti already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Naetti isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Northeim early rather than rehoming privately; they know Naetti and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
