Nia und Yuma

Mixed Breed · Female · Kitten · 1 month

05/2026 Age: 2 female Cats Compatibility: Two animals, dog and cat compatible Housing: prefers apartment with secured balcony/garden, possibly outdoor access Health: 2 vaccinated (cold/disease), chipped, mother negative test (FIV/FeLV) Adoption fee: 150 Euro per kitten Nia and Yuma were about 6 weeks old when they moved in with their siblings and their mom at our foster home. The "little wild ones" have become two sweet, lively girls. Yuma has become a real cuddle cat. She often seeks the closeness to her humans and also likes to lie on the lap. You also like to get licked by the little mouse. 🙂 Nia is a little princess, a "typical cat girl". She is the one who weighs and carefully explores the situation first. Both girls are much calmer than their brothers. They are familiar with living with other cats and already have dog experience. Children should already be in their teenage years, as the girls will need more consideration at least at first until they have settled in. The castration takes place at the age of about 6 months by the new owners and must be proven to us. The foster home is located in Kerpen. I am interested in this cat Discover more cats

About Nia und Yuma

What life with Nia und Yuma looks like

Nia und Yuma is a puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Katzenschutzbund Köln in Köln.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nia und Yuma, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nia und Yuma?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Katzenschutzbund Köln handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nia und Yuma on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nia und Yuma if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Katzenschutzbund Köln will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nia und Yuma already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nia und Yuma isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Katzenschutzbund Köln early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nia und Yuma and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
