Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Profile: Age: Born around May 2023 Gender: male neutered: yes Character: very friendly and open, cuddly, playful, compatible with fellow animals Size: approx. 50 cm In shelter since: April 2024 A loving hello to the world! My name is Nick. I am a friendly, cheerful fellow on the lookout for my home. Here in the shelter, we had a visit from Germany last May, and people, that was so exciting! Of course, I was also closely examined, and it gave me hope. For with my open, cheerful nature, I touched every heart. Full of joy and super-friendly, I greeted the ladies in my kennel. They said that a dog like me shouldn't have it hard to find my people. Not only is my character great – no, I also wear an extremely original fur coat and have a nice, medium size. Before I landed in the shelter, I was simply abandoned somewhere and left to my fate. I had neither a roof over my head nor people caring for me. And now everything is different, because I am now in the shelter. But I feel much better in my – hopefully temporary – home than on the street. No daily search for food, no survival struggle, and no more running… Patiently, I wait here for you, already looking forward to many happy and exciting experiences with you. I am ready, let's get started… Your Nick If you are interested in Nick, please fill out our interest form () or send us an email or a message on Facebook. Nick is ready to travel and can travel to Germany with the next transport. Our dogs travel legally with Traces. Traces refers to the database system that monitors the entire animal transport within the EU. The dogs travel neutered (if old enough), vaccinated, microchipped, and dewormed, and have an EU passport. Additionally, for dogs over 12 months old, a rapid test for the following Mediterranean diseases is conducted before travel arrangements: Lyme disease, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichiosis, Dirofilariasis, and leishmaniasis. Anja D. has taken on the sponsorship of Nick, ensuring a full plate. Many thanks on behalf of the dogs!. Gets along with other dogs.

About Nick

What life with Nick looks like

Nick is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Seelen für Seelchen e.V. in Alfter.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nick, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nick?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Seelen für Seelchen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nick on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nick if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Seelen für Seelchen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nick already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nick isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Seelen für Seelchen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nick and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
