Nico – Schäfchen im Hundepelz

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 4 years

Patron Dog Nico - mixed breed Nico is on the lookout for a patron! I am male, vaccinated, microchipped, and born in 2017. I have lived at the animal shelter Schkortitz since March 2022. My caretakers say about me: Nico was taken over by a friendly association. Together with his companion Masha, she had the good fortune to find her family with us. Originally, our little lamb Nico was also meant to find a home. But one day, old age caught up with him, and Nico could barely stand without assistance, often needing help to get up. Nico had to complete his daily walk, including a time when he was carried to the forest entrance so he could walk back, where his motivation was higher. That was the point where we decided to keep him. In the meantime, his condition has stabilized, and Nico is working hard to improve his mobility. His blood values are excellent, and he receives some medications and supplements to support him. The fact that he is happy and content is evident every time we see him - he always gives us a smile and greets us with great joy. But things often turn out differently than we think - we couldn't have imagined that someone would have the necessary understanding for us and Nico's special needs… then a familiar adoptant from around the corner comes and… finds also my little lamb his herd. Nico will be taken in as a foster home and retire with our dedicated senior dog adoptant, who can handle it. Even with his doggy companion, sometimes wonders happen. Or Pelle-Dackel might throw a sausage directly onto Frau's head. That surely made her think about asking us about a potential successor. To ensure Nico has a financially secure retirement, our little lamb is looking for more patrons - who wants to make Nico and us happy?

Frequently asked

Adopting Nico – Schäfchen im Hundepelz, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nico – Schäfchen im Hundepelz?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Schkortitz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nico – Schäfchen im Hundepelz on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nico – Schäfchen im Hundepelz if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Schkortitz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nico – Schäfchen im Hundepelz already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nico – Schäfchen im Hundepelz isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Schkortitz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nico – Schäfchen im Hundepelz and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
