Nieve

Husky · Male · Young · 2 years

Behind Nieve's icy blue eyes lies a lot of potential. Nieve means "snow" – and just like freshly fallen snow, this young male husky still appears a bit cautious and untouched. Behind his icy blue eyes is a dog who is just beginning to learn about the world and the people around him. Nieve was found alone on the street and brought to our partner shelter. Unfortunately, we know little about his past, as is often the case with rescue dogs. Currently, Nieve is still a bit reserved and typically husky, quite independent. He prefers to observe from a distance and needs time to build trust. At the same time, his youthful side occasionally shines through – especially when a ball comes into play, which he chases with enthusiasm. Nieve would like to leave the animal shelter quickly, as there are very limited opportunities there for him to explore the world or get enough exercise. Of course, for a young, active dog like him, this is not a permanent state. Huskies not only want to be physically challenged but also need mental stimulation, shared experiences, and the freedom that every young dog deserves. For Nieve, we wish for people who either know the specialities of this fascinating breed or are willing to immerse themselves in understanding it. People who understand that trust does not develop overnight but grows over time. With patience, structure, understanding, and the right dose of humor, Nieve will surely become a wonderful companion. Anyone who wants to give Nieve the chance of a home can contact his responsible matchmaker. And of course, Nieve would also be very happy about a foster home that enables him to start a new life.

About Nieve

What life with Nieve looks like

Nieve is a young adult husky dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nieve, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nieve?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nieve on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nieve if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nieve already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nieve isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nieve and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
