Adopt Nigel

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Profile Age: born in 2022 Gender: male Neutered: yes Character: friendly, calm Size: about 46 cm At the shelter since: July 2022 Relatives: Siblings Jule & Lisa (Janny & Tilda - already adopted) Hello, hello I mean you. Don't look away. I have you in my sight. My name is Nigel. Profile I came to the shelter with my siblings, originally for a temporary stay. But it became a permanent solution. Now we've been here so long and have grown up. I get food, a place to sleep and sometimes I also get cuddles. I can play and run around with the other dogs. But that's not enough. I'm bored, need variety and daily challenges. Now you come into play. I'm looking for you, my favorite person. I have my ideas. Food, dog bed and regular cuddles, going for walks. Exploring the world. For that I need family connection with cuddling, pampering and loving conversations. However, I still need some training. I don't know anything. Being friendly alone isn't enough. I heard there is a school that I can attend with you to learn the dog ABC. I'm ready. How about you? If you want to hear more from me, contact me. I'm waiting for you, Nigel. If you are interested in Nigel, please fill out our application form () or send us an email at or a message via Facebook. Nigel is ready for adoption and can travel to Germany with the next transport. Our dogs travel legally with Traces. Traces refers to the database system used to monitor all animal traffic within the EU. The dogs travel neutered (if old enough), vaccinated, microchipped and dewormed and have an EU passport. In addition, for dogs over 12 months old, a rapid test for the following Mediterranean diseases is carried out before arranging travel: Lyme disease, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichiosis, Dirofilariasis and Leishmaniasis. The sponsorship of Nigel has been taken over by Bärbel W., thus ensuring a full bowl. Many thanks on behalf of the dogs!

Steckbrief Alter: 2022 geboren Geschlecht: männlich Kastriert: ja Charakter: freundlich, ruhig Größe: ca. 46 cm Im Shelter seit: Juli 2022 Verwandtschaft: Geschwister Jule & Lisa (Janny & Tilda – bereits ausgereist) Hallo, ja hallo ich meine dich.

About Nigel

What life with Nigel looks like

Nigel is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Seelen für Seelchen e.V. in Alfter.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nigel, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nigel?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Seelen für Seelchen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nigel on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nigel if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Seelen für Seelchen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nigel already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nigel isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Seelen für Seelchen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nigel and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
